Becoming A Patron

The Pride Committee is working to make this year's event an even more incredible event than ever. Last year, our parade and festival worked through the politics and overcame many obstacles which resulted in a celebration capped by a parade of over 140 marching units!

The response was so positive that we expect to attract an additional over 8500 people at this year's NC PrideFest.

There are many special events in the planning stages, including woman's events, swing dancing, live entertainment, receptions, forums and lectures.

As you know, the Pride Committee depends only on volunteers to support an event of this magnitude. Extensive advertising and promotion, equipment rentals, professional services, printing, coverage of events, etc. obviously is costly. In order to ensure that our NCPrideFest continues to grow annually, we are asking for FINANCIAL SUPPORT from our LGBT community. Remember that all politics are local... all relationships are personal - in other words it is up to YOU personally to help make NCPrideFest a success! Save On Your Taxes!

Reduce your State Income Tax with the Nonitemizer Tax Credit!

Even if you don't usually itemize deductions on your federal income tax return, North Carolina tax law may offer you a state tax credit for charitable giving to a 501c3 nonprofit institution such as the Pride Committee of North Carolina. This year, a donor can claim the 7 percent tax credit on all contributions that are above 2 percent of your adjusted gross income. Because 2 percent is the average portion of income that people contribute, the NC tax credit rewards giving that is above average.

For example, a person with a total household income of $40,000 that makes $2,000 in donations can take the credit on the amount that is over $800 (2 percent of $40,000). In other words, you can claim the credit on $1,200 ($2,000 - $800 = $1,200). End result: you can subtract $84 from your state tax bill (7 percent x $1,200 = $84).
